Innovative Bourbon taking whiskey drinkers by storm
The spark that became Dexter was ignited over 20 year ago, when co-founder Doug Hall was helping the Macallan brand create new whiskies in Scotland, and the Macallan team explained that 70% of the flavor of all whiskies, comes from the interaction of whiskey with wood during aging. Doug and co-founder Joe Girgash decided early on that they would not change the process of wood interacting with whiskey, but reduce variation in the interaction. In short, they created a process for heating and cooling that controls the temperature to within a tenth of a degree. The result being the highest quality control of the whiskey / wood interaction in the industry. And now, let’s talk history! Dexter Three Wood is named in honor of the world famous 1800’s Bourbon Blender, Edmund Dexter. His craftsmanship and commitment to quality was so renowned that Charles Dickens and King Edward VII even visited with him at his home on 4th street in Cincinnati. In short, Dexter is taking us back to Bourbon as it was, while simultaneously showing us the future of what Bourbon should be. Pretty, pretty clever.
