North Valley Vineyards was originally a partnership between Tony Soter (of Soter Vineyards and Mineral Springs Ranch) and his head winemaker, James Cahill (formerly of Beaux Freres and Elk Cove). James is now the full owner and driving force behind North Valley Vineyards and its two estate sites. The Willamette Valley appellation is almost 160 miles long and 45 miles wide, but it is in the much smaller, northern corner of the region where the show-stopping vineyards are found, in the “North Valley”. James partners with growers in Dundee Hills, Ribbon Ridge, Eola-Amity Hills, Yamhill-Carlton District, Chehalem Mountain area, and McMinnville to round out the work that they do with their two estate vineyards, North Valley and Aegrina. Gorgeously savory and distinct, and yet also priced for accessibility, these wines are a hidden gem that the very clever and/or unusually lucky have discovered.
